How to Get Married in Northern Cyprus

Documents, Requirements
& Legal Process

Foreign nationals wishing to legally marry in Northern Cyprus must submit their marriage application in person at the Kaymakamlık (District Governor's Office) serving the district where they intend to marry. Both applicants are required to attend the appointment together and bring all the required documents listed below.

Application forms are completed at the Marriage Office during your appointment and submitted together with your supporting documents for review. Once your application has been approved, the Marriage Office will advise you of the date and time of your civil marriage ceremony.

In Kyrenia (Girne), the Marriage Office is located on the second floor of the Kaymakamlık building.

Foreign couples must apply at the Kaymakamlık (District Governor's Office) in the district where they intend to marry.

Please note that marriage requirements and administrative procedures may change, and individual districts may have slightly different practices. We recommend confirming the current requirements with the relevant Marriage Office before obtaining documents or arranging translations.
